Peace of Mind Campaign Logo

The Peace of Mind Campaign

The “Peace of Mind, One Cast at a Time” campaign, led by the Metropolitan Police Angling Society (MPAS), promotes mental health and wellbeing across policing and emergency services through angling. By providing calm, inclusive, and peer-led environments, it helps officers and staff decompress, reduce stress, and build supportive networks. Initiatives include the Buddy Scheme, wellbeing-focused events, accessible fishing opportunities, and educational resources. Through partnerships with mental health charities, academic research, and industry sponsors, the campaign raises awareness, fosters community, and ensures sustainable growth, empowering emergency service workers to prioritise their wellbeing while enjoying the therapeutic benefits of fishing.

Peace of Mind is a registered Community Interest Company (C.I.C). A C.I.C is a not for profit organisation that operates to benefit and support community needs. All funds generated through Peace of Mind go towards supporting anglers. Registration number: 16860705.

Metropolitan Police Angling Society (MPAS)

The Metropolitan Police Angling Society (MPAS) supports police officers, police staff, their families and other emergency services by providing accessible and well-managed fishing opportunities. The society promotes wellbeing, friendship and responsible angling through our Peace of Mind campaign. It encourages learning, community involvement and a positive, inclusive environment that brings members together across the Met and helps strengthen support networks.

Mental Health & Policing

Policing puts real pressure on both mental and physical health, as it does for other emergency services . In 2024–25 more than 17,700 UK police officers were signed off with stress, anxiety, depression or PTSD. Nearly 70 percent reported high levels of fatigue, while 55 percent experience persistent physical exhaustion. Long shifts, critical incidents and limited recovery periods all add to the strain placed on officers and staff throughout the service. We hope to reverse this trend by promoting mental health and wellbeing, and providing resources for mental health.
